Description
Driven on the Herd Sand in wind conditions ENE force 7, October 1852. The lifeboat PROVIDENCE, towed out by the pilot steamer, made a gallant attempt to rescue the unfortunate people, and their bravery was rewarded by the rescue of the exhausted crew and the three female passengers (Whitaker).
