Description
From the North and South Shields Gazette, 29th October 1852.
"During the course of Wednesday morning some vessels were observed along the coast and toward 2 o'clock they commenced to come in. A London brig, the UNITY of Lynn, which left Hartlepool on Monday, while attempting to take Shields Bar, struck and drove onto the Herd Sand. The crew were gallantly rescued by the South Shields lifeboat PROVIDENCE..." (Whitaker)
