Description
Frederick lodge, a detached mansion shown on the 1st edition OS. The lodge was known as ‘one of the most aristocratic mansions in the town,’ and was occupied by Sunderland’s first mayor Andrew White. The western portion of the lodge’s garden was developed in 1876 into the New Arcade. From the 1880s the building was used by Inland Revenue.
