Description
Byker Hill House is shown on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map of 1855, occupying a position some 50 metres south of Hadrian’s Wall, and c.100 metres south of Byker windmill (HER ref. 4160). It survived the addition of the East End Slaughter House immediately to the north, and is still shown on the 3rd edition Ordnance Survey Plan of 1916, but by this time may have been subsumed within the slaughter house complex.
