Description
This three storey Georgian building is made predominantly of brick, although the sandstone of the lintels and window surrounds becomes a full sandstone frontage on the Rye Hill faƧade. The first floor windows on this front are ornately decorated and a balcony with metal railings runs beneath them. The building became the Throat Nose and Ear Hospital in 1906 and was used as such until 1964 when all the patients were transferred to Newcastle General Hospital. LOCAL LIST
