Three stone columns opposite the "shoe trees" where visitors have been leaving old shoes for twenty years. The columns are architectural fragments from the Royal Arcade, , which was demolished in the 1960s. The pieces were stored at Warwick Street until the 1970s then deposited in Heaton Park.

The original pavilion from Heaton Park is at Beamish Museum. The present pavilion is the second replica, built in the 1980s. The associated terrace and balustrading is built of concrete faced with mock stone. There was originally a fountain on the terrace at the top of the steps.
