Description
1833 wreck of Scottish cargo vessel, which stranded near the Spanish Battery on putting in a Shields harbour. En route from Montrose to London, she was a wooden sailing vessel. Master: Youngson. The ST NINIAN (HER 14488), Scotland, from Newry, the KEITH STEWARD (HER 14487) from Perth, and the FRIENDS from Montrose, all bound to London, in putting in here, were driven on the rocks and are totally lost with their cargoes. The crews were saved.
