Description
Took its name from the turnpike bar (HER 4017, 3987) at the junction of Ponteland Road and the road into Kenton. During the Second World War some of the personnel from the Air Raid Precautions Sub-depot B6(b) were housed in the pub. In 1988 Vaux refurbished the pub and renamed it the Crofters' Lodge. After local protests at the loss of the old name, the words 'at Kenton Bar' were added to the new signs.
