This is shown soon after construction on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey plan (surveyed c.1854/5). A Railway (HER ref. 2433) ran along the Groyne to the Groyne Lighthouse (HER ref. 2431), possibly associated with the construction of both. LISTED GRADE 2
