Description

These quarries at Marsden are associated with Marsden Lime Kilns (HER ref. 1002). They are not shown on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey plan, so were presumably in use after 1855. They are marked as ‘Old’ on the 2nd edition Ordnance Survey plan, and on the 1942 edition Ordnance Survey map have been obscured by the expansion of the adjacent quarry (HER ref. 2488).
