Description
The Raff Yard (timber yard) of Crighton and Tyzack is shown on Wood's plan of 1826 and Rook's plan of 1827. Crighton and Tyzack opened a chain and anchor works to the south of this around 1834, absorbing a former galssworks (HER 5490). The raff yard was later taken over by a forge and foundry (HER 2054 - 1st edition Ordnance Survey map) and then by North Shields Glazed Brick Works and Flint Mills (2nd edition Ordnance Survey map).
