C14 canopy re-used in late C19 to form fountain. Sandstone. Eroded headstops
to crocketed canopy over lintel to square recess formerly containing fountain. Pevsner - unusual drinking fountain, the cover a re-used medieval crocketed canopy, possibly from old Durham Market House (cf. masonry at nearby Thorpe House). LISTED GRADE 2
