Description
As early as 1793 Methodist meetings were held in private houses in West Boldon. Later the first chapel was built in the area known as The Folly. This fine new church in East Boldon was built in 1889. Two small vestries were added in 1970. In 1915 the building was extended to provide a hall for the use of the Northumberland Fusiliers encamped close by. After the War the new hall became a Sunday School and meeting room. The adjoining Youth Centre was opened in 1964.
