Description:
Town Moor boundary stone. C18. Pecked sandstone with ashlar panels. Tapered stone with sloped top; arms of Newcastle (3 castles) in low relief on north face; 'No.44' incised on sloping top. Historical note: probably erected after the legal dispute in 1770 between the freemen and the mayor and burgesses concerning ownership of the Town Moor. LISTED GRADE 2
