Facade of former Crown Hotel and Nos. 6 to 24; rebuilt behind facade as block of flats. Circa 1837, probably by John Wardle, for Richard Grainger. Sandstone ashlar; roof not visible. 4 storeys, 30 bays overall, stepped back twice to east. Steps up to double 8-panelled doors with fanlights in deep reveals. Sash windows with glazing bars in plain reveals. Second-floor sill band, floor bands and prominent second-floor cornice; top cornice and blocking course. Included for group value. LISTED GRADE 2
