Description
The first recorded burial at St. Nicholas Churchyard was in 1170AD. The graveyard, now closed, covers five acres around St. Nicholas’ Church and is surrounded by a stone wall and railings. There are a mixture of fascinating gravestones and tombs interwoven with scores of mature trees. The tomb of the Brandling family, who owned Gosforth Park, lies in this cemetery. LOCAL LIST
