Description
1996 by Graciela Ainsworth. A heavy concrete-filled drum, 80cm high and 85cm in diameter, suspended between two steel rings allowing it to rock if pushed. Two steel supports rise up from the drum with a yellow stone partridge at the top of each one. On the outer drum are the words "THE NAKED EARTH WARM WITH SPRING BURSTING TREE'S LEAN TO THE SUN'S KISS" taken from a poem by Julian Grenfell. commissioned by Gateshead Council as part of its 'Four Seasons' initiative and is meant to represent Spring.
