Description
1995 by Wilma Eaton. Two half pit wheels set in parallel with a third smaller steel hemicircle in between, decorated with forged steel miners, winding gear and coal seams. The structure was salvaged from Easington Colliery. Commissioned by City of Sunderland as a tribute to those who worked at Ryhope Colliery between 1856 and 1966.
