Description
During World War Two RAF Woolsington was a grass flying field equipped with Bellman and Blister aircraft hangars as well as civilian hangars. By 1944 its function was a storage and maintainance unit attached to 43 Group. Post-war prior to 1985, the airfield was expanded and redeveloped as a civil airport. Two large structures are visible on aerial photographs of 1946.
