Description
There is a cup and ring motif carved into the bedrock of the northern tributary of the Wallsend Burn called Wallsend Dene. When the dene is in spate the rock is under water. There is another motif about 10m away. Unfortunately these are not ancient rock art. Ian Hobson, a rock art enthusiast from Newcastle made them around 2000 using a carpenter's chisel. He has made similar markings at Cobalt Business Park and Rising Sun Country Park.
