Description
January 1792 wreck of British craft which capsized, possibly following collision, and stranded near the North Pier at Sunderland on her arrival; a wooden sailing vessel. Master: Blench. `Newcastle, January 21, 1792...Sunday night, in a gale from the southward, and a strong fresh running out of the Wear, out of 50 ships attempting to enter the harbour, 13 run on shore within the North Pier...The SUCCESS, Capt. Blench, was overset, dismasted, and has since gone to pieces...' (Newcastle Courant)
