Description
On the opposite side of the road to Loosing Hill (HER 8181) was a whitewashed cottage. This is visible on Fryer's enclosure map of 1805. This was the home of Billy and Lottie Brabban. He worked at Marley Hill Coke Ovens until his death in 1932. Lottie worked in the farmer's fields. She could handle horses and drive a carriage. The new wood planted by the Woodland Trust in the meadow behind Loosing Hill has been named Lottie's Wood in her honour. Now the site of a pair of police houses.
