Description

Site of the Backworth Colliery granary and feed preparation mill for pit pony fodder. The granary appears to have been built and incorporated into the Allotment Farm (HER 19175), which was demolished and rebuilt between 1854 and 1894. Both the farm and the granary survived until at least the late 1960s.
