Description
Substantial stone retaining wall on north side of River Derwent, just south of the houses on River View/Morawe Crescent. Revealed during ground works in March 1998. A stone dam similar to that at Winlaton Mill was revealed at the same time on the south side of the river (in County Durham). Presumably the retaining walls were associated with the Steel Works and mill race (HER 1017) and Blackhall Mill itself (HER 3405).
