Park View, Standard Theatre

Standard Theatre was erected in 1874. Built from red brick, the theatre could seat 800 persons. At each side of the stage were changing rooms and propers were houses in a lean to shed behind the building. Mr J Watson of the Criterion Theatrical Company was the proprietor. The theatre closed in 1916. The gable end was demolished and the premises was used as a garage for a bus compnay. It is not a warehouse for an agricultural merchant.
