Description
Shown on Ordnance Survey second edition. Name references nearby Elswick Works (HER 4315). A WB Reid house. Landlord for almost 20 years from 1938 was former boxer Seaman Tommy Watson. His wife was officially the licensee between 1938 and 1945. Watson left the Gun to take over the Blackie Boy in the Groat Market. Closed early 1970s.
