Description
Shown on Ordnance Survey second edition. Closed in 1962. The pubs in Elswick were very much 'locals', generally serving the residents of a handful of streets in the immediate vicinity and not doing much evening trade before 8.30pm. The Crown, however, was usually the first public house to be visited by ex-convicts; being adjacent to the dole office.
