The remains of a 1347 chapel were standing until 1750. Now the site of Chapel House. The chapel of St. Lawrence was attached to the medieval manor house until 1400. Reference to the east end is made in 1750.

Reference to the east end is made in 1750. A small rebuilt wall at NZ 3722 6597 incorporates old masonry and remains of a probable window. Dated C14th.
NB the grid ref NZ 3722 6597 is at the north end of a South Tyneside College building. There is no sign of this wall at the front of Chapel House and it is presumed to be at the back.

The path, known as Salters Trod, survives between Nos. 8 and 9 Westoe village, running through a cast iron arch at the back of the properties, past the impressive local magnesian limestone walls of No. 8 and the gate pier, across the street and.out along St. George's Avenue and on towards Cleadon. A vehicular access is present at St. George's Avenue. A road was laid in the mid C20 after the demolition of Westoe Farm. Local stone boundary walls on either side.
