Shown on Ordnance Survey second edition. In 1899 the landlord Ralph H Tulley demonstrated some new equipment from the Anidjah Fire Escape Company to a large crowd. It was an inflammable long flax canvas chute which provided an escape route from an upper window to the ground 48 feet below. In 1903 the Star was refitted by Deuchar to be "greater and grander than ever". It comprised a "large handsomely fitted bar, a spacious and luxurious buffet, and lavatories". It closed in 1948 when Jackson the Tailor purchased the block in which it stood.
