SITEDESC
Shown on 2nd edition Ordnance Survey map. The County Pub was built in 1893 as part of a development on the site which included four houses and later some stables and a coach house. The pub, now owned by Scottish and Newcastle Breweries, is two storeys high, the top storey of which is covered by white render. The façade of the lower storey is spectacularly decorated with tiles added to the building in 1906. The tiles are arranged in patterns and create impressions of architectural features, for example vertical lines of green patterned tiles at either side of windows and doorways resemble columns. Above the entrances the patterns give way to ornate mouldings.
