Shown on Ordnance Survey second edition. Edward Storey & Son, later Storey & Strachan, were the first tenants. The brewery was then run by the Newton family. Robert Newton started here in 1848. His son took over in 1871 until his death in 1901, when his son, also called Robert, took over the business. In 1884 the Victoria Brewery was enlarged and redesigned. There was a malt mill, hot water tank and coolers on the top (third) storey, mashing and fermenting rooms on the second floor and engine room and storage on the ground floor. In 1913 Robert Newton went into partnership with a brewer from Burton-on-Trent and formed Robert Newton Ltd, a private company. In 1920 J.W. Cameron & Co. Ltd took over.

Shown on Ordnance Survey second edition. Built around 1840 as a Baptist Chapel for a breakaway group from the Tuthill Stairs congregation. In 1886 they moved to Westgate Road. In 1893 it became a Roman Catholic junior school. By 1896 it was Drysdale Hall. It became the King's Hall Cinema in 1905, opened by John Collins and his two brothers. Thought to be the first permanent cinema in Newcastle. It was described as 'The Cosiest Hall in the City'. The King's was remodelled, redecorated and reseated in 1908. In December 1911 James Lowes took over the cinema. It probably closed in February 1930 but reopened in the October with a sound system. Burnt down on 5 September 1931. The proposed 'New Marlborough Cinema' was never built in its place. The plot is still empty and the fire-blackened walls can still be seen.
