Shown on Ordnance Survey second edition. Robert Emmerson Junior, son of the Flying Horse and Burton breweries founder, left the family firm in 1882 and began producing soft drinks here. In 1891 new three storey premises were opened, said to be "at once an architectural ornament and splendidly equipped factory". The building housed the soft drinks manufactory plus wine, spirit, ale and porter cellarage. When the factory opened, Emmerson provided breakfast for hundreds of local poor school children. Robert Emmerson sold his business to James Deuchar in 1900.
