This stands beside the White Swan Centre on Citadel East in a garden in the car park. It was erected on 28th September 2000 by Sappers from the Royal Engineers and unveiled on 11th November 2000. It is 10 feet high and 10 feet wide, constructed of stainless steel in 16 jigsaw pieces. Two of the pieces lie on the ground alongside three stainless steel plaques. The centre plaque reads "IN MEMORY OF THOSE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN THE CAUSE OF PEACE SINCE 1945". The right hand plaque reads "THE JIGSAW IS A METAPHOR FOR BEREAVEMENT, THE LOSS FELT AT THE DEATH OF A LOVED ONE. IT ALSO CELEBRATES FAMILY AND FRIENDS, STANDING TOGETHER, PROVIDING COMFORT AND SUPPORT INTO THE FUTURE JUDITH SPREADBURY, STUDENT, NORTH TYNESIDE COLLEGE". The third plaque is to the artist who died in 2005. 'Jigsaw' was commissioned by North Tyneside War Veterans Memorial Committee. William Morrisons Supermarkets Plc donated funds for the materials and Swan Hunters (Tyneside) Ltd provided technical staff (apprentice welders) {1}. 10,000 daffodils were planted at the White Swan Centre for victims of the Falklands War {www.newmp.org.uk}.

The sculptures have been a feature of Killingworth's Garths estate since the mid-1970s. It is understood that the hippos were installed as part of a local authority housing scheme, however, the designer is, as yet, unknown. It is assumed that they came from the same moulds used by Stan Bonnar for similar hippos in Glenrothes New Town, Fife.

Stands in the front garden of the doctor's surgery. The figure might be St. Barbara, patron saint of miners {Jack Grieves, NEWMP}.

History
Following the First World War, funds to erect this memorial and a cottage hospital were partially raised by a self-imposed levy upon the pay of local miners. The hospital and memorial were unveiled at a ceremony on 15th September 1923, performed by J Morrison, MD of Cramlington Coal Company and Dr J Wishart; the service was conducted by Rev. J Burdon. The war memorial was moved to its present position, and turned through 90 degrees in c. 1986 when the cottage hospital was replaced by the present surgery.

Two-stepped sandstone base with a plinth surmounted by a marble female figure c. 3m high in a long dress and cloak. Her left arm is leaning on an anchor, and she is likely to be a personification of Hope. The dedication and some of the names of the Fallen are listed, in black lettering, in a single column on the front of the pedestal with more names on the sides.
The inscription reads: DUDLEY WAR MEMORIAL / THIS MONUMENT AND HOSPITAL / ARE ERECTED IN HONOURED MEMORY / OF OUR MEN WHO FELL IN THE / GREAT WAR 1914 -1918/(58 NAMES) AND 1939-1945 (20 NAMES).

2nd March 1860, 76 lives were lost when there was an explosion at Burradon Colliery.

Grave of Henry Frederick Swan (1842-1908) shipbuilder. Henry was the brother of Charles Sheriton Swan, who is also buried in this cemetery. At the age of 20 Henry was seconded to St. Petersburg to superintend the construction of warships for the Russian Navy. The Tsar presented him with a diamond snuffbox. On his return to England, he took over the Walker Shipyard of Charles Mitchell. He took out patents on oil tankers. In 1886 the first oil tank steamer to carry bulk petroleum across the Atlantic was patented. Henry formed the Cargo Fleet Iron Company at Middlesbrough in 1880. For 27 years he commanded the 2nd voluntary Brigade of Northumberland Fusiliers, eventually as honorary Colonel. On his retirement in 1902 he was created a Companion of the Bath. The Henry Frederick Swan Lifeboat was built during WW1 at the Cowes Yard of S.E. Saunders on the Isle of Wight, costing £6,901. A gift from the widow of H.F. Swan, who had been prominent in Tyne shipbuilding circles and was chairman of the Tynemouth branch of the RNLI.

Grave of Charles William Mitchell (1855-1903), who was born in Aberdeen in 1820 and died in Newcastle in 1895. He was a shipbuilder and business partner of Lord Armstrong. He lived at Jesmond Towers from 1870 to 1895 and offered to build a church on his land - St George's Church was built 1888-9 to a design by Thomas Spence, shipyard architect. His son Charles William Mitchell (Junior), a pre-Raphaelite painter, created the fine windows at the Church of St. George, Jesmond and also designed the figures in the chancel mosaic. At Jesmond Towers a square bay window in the morning or drawing room, with flowers painted in the lights of the stone tracery, and an Arts-and-Crafts dado painted with flowing leafy stems and flowers may have been the work of C.W. Mitchell according to Pevsner. Charles William Mitchell (junior) was born in 1854 and died in 1903. His one famous painting was 'Hypatia' of 1885, inspired by the Charles Kingsley novel. This painting hangs in the Laing Art Gallery.

White granite cross, 15 feet high, on a circular base. Unveiled 23rd February 1919. "LEST WE FORGET" on bottom plinth. "1914-1918 TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE SERVICE OF THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR AND WHOSE NAMES ARE RECORDED ON A TABLET IN THE CHURCH…". Commemorative tablets to those who died from wounds are arranged in an arc in the flower beds. Listed building description - commissioned by Longbenton Burial Board. Funds raised by public subscription. Unveiled at a ceremony on 6th May 1922 by Pte. TD Nicholson. Dedicated by Dr Wild, Bishop of Durham. Eight men who died of their wounds are buried in an arc around the memorial and are marked by commemorative tablets. Tall slender tapering octagonal white granite cross surmounted by a bronze foliated circular cross head with the initials I H S (first three letters of the Greek spelling of jesus) in the centre. The cross stands on a pair of octagonal pedestals, all on a circular base.

Unveiled by Councillor James Hamilton Grant on 12th April 1933 and presented to the people of Whitley Bay. Described as "a little sister to the lighthouse" it has a pillar of white terracotta (since painted black).

Victorian post box built into wall of Hillheads Depot opposite Railway Public House. Roadside wall boxes were introduced from 1857 as a cheaper alternative to pillar boxes.
