By 1956 the Circatex (Clothing) Factory was constructed at Laygate following the demolition of rows of terraced houses and flats. Demolished 2009.

School built in 1964. Four classes moved into the new school from Rutter's School (HER11410) while the infant classes remained in the old building. The 19th century school was demolished in 1973 when the kitchen, hall and additional classroom had been added to the 1960s building. During the 1980s/90s additional classrooms were added on the south east corner of the building and main school hall was exteneded. The school closed in July 2014. Now demolished.

A pond is shown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey plan (1858) near St. Anthony's Square (later Pottery Square). This was enlarged slightly by the late 19th century. It is not shown on the 1921 plan.

Features relating to post-medieval or early modern mining activity were identified in several trenches during an archaeological evaluation in 2015. These took the form of pits, probably shafts and linear cuts. At least one of these features was of probable 17th-18th century date. Post-medieval pottery has provided some dating evidence.
