Description
Within the courtyard between the listed stable block, east wing of the Hall and the orangery are a number of brick buildings. These include a coach house with single storey extensions to the east. The coach house looks domestic in style and retains its original windows. The door in the south elevation is a replacement. The most attractive side of this block is the west elevation, facing the approach to the Hall from the north. This has sash windows. The extension has blind windows on its east wall. The toilet block on the south wall is contemporary with this extension (mid 20th century). To the north east is a two storey block. The lower part appears to be mid 19th century. It has been extended up a storey and early 20th century lintels inserted. The north-west block has had an arrangement of 8-over-8 sashes which have been altered in the early 20th century. The wall adjoining the north-east block has three large blocked windows and a concrete cope. The doorway might originally have been a window. The courtyard is mostly concrete but there is some stone paving. These brick buildings have an ad-hoc character. There are some Lakeland slates on the south block and east block (diminishing course sizes).

Description
Probable that there were originally two cottages and that they extended further eastwards. The east gable is rendered. The windows and doors have been altered. The eastern two thirds were originally single storey and have been extended up by a storey using a different colour brick. To the east of the cottages are the fragmentary remains of a stone structure lying as rubble. This appears to have been a stone built steading building.

Description
Long narrow building, single storey and gabled at the west end. Built of stone with openings to the south. The north side had narrow slit ventilators. Three square windows have been cut through the masonry surrounded by tiles. The part to the west which retains a slate roof is earlier. It has quoins on the north wall. The south side has stone piers. The internal roof stricture is a scissor truss supporting profiled sheeting. At the east end the original roof may have been hipped. At the western end is a brick chimney, a later addition.

Located north west of the stable block. 1930s estate cottage. Lying pane metal frame windows. Red tiled roof. The house has a symmetrical front - central front door, large rectangular windows to either side and three windows on the first floor, the central one smaller and narrower than those to either side. Its suburban design looks out of keeping on a country house estate.

Description
During World War Two a group of buildings were built around the orangery. They were most likely associated with RAF Woolsington. To the north of the orangery is a brick building with concrete render and square chimney. These buildings may be a decontamination block based on their style and proximity to the airfield at RAF Woolsington. These were constructed at most airbases to deal with personnel who had come into contact with gas or chemicals. Other suggestions for the use of these buildings are hospital and mortuary.

Description
Max Engelbert Adolph Holzapfel was born on 3 April 1861. He was the German consul in Newcastle before the First World War. He became a naturalized British subject in 1887. In 1881 Max, his elder brother Albert and Charles Petrie established Holzapfel Ltd in a shipyard shed in Newcastle to produce marine anti-fouling coatings by hand in wooden casks for iron-clad ships. Their paint brand was named International and the logo was a red propeller. By 1889 the company had expanded to Russia, Denmark, Italy and Germany. In 1890 the company name was changed to Holzapfel's Composition Company. In 1901 the company registered in New Jersey and produced coatings in Brooklyn, USA. They moved to larger premises in Gateshead and then in 1904 to a large factory in Felling. A drawing of the works shows a huge factiory by the river with two buildings, one with three pitches on the roof with lights, the other with four pitches and ventilators and a tall chimney. Painted on the riverside elevation is Holzapfel's Compositions Company Limited and the red propeller logo. Around 1908 it became a public company Holzapfel Ltd. Max Holzapfel was the Chairman in 1914 when factories were added in Sweden, France and Japan. Now known as International Paints, the company moved its headquarters to London. Production began in Spain, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. They made domestic and industrial paints, marine and yacht paints. During WW2 the company made paint for the Allies naval fleets and military hardware. After the War new research and production buildings, an office and canteen were added at Felling. More factories were built in Holland, Portugal, Nigeria and Venezuela. In 1968 Courtaulds aquired International Paint, having already bought Pinchin Johnson & Associates of London (which had been trading since 1834). A new factory was opened in Felling on Stoneygate Lane in 1974. In 1998 Dutch company AkzoNobel took over Courtaulds. International Paint is the leading brand name of AkzoNobel Marine & Protective Coatings.
