Shown on Ordnance Survey second edition. George Wilkinson brewed here from the late 1840s until the early 1850s. John Emmerson became licensee in 1875. In 1890 it passed to Jacob Wilkinson. It was in the ownership of Ind Coope when it closed in 1960.

Altered in 1891, when it was frequented by miners for union meetings. Rebuilt in 1920. It was in the ownership of Ind Coope when it closed in 1960. It then became a carpet shop. In 1977 John Smith's opened it as a pub again, the Canny Lad. In the late 1980s it was briefly called Mr Smith's, then Lennon's. It is now called Sinners.
