Two flint leaf-shaped arrowheads were found on the surface of a ploughed field behind Emma Colliery in 1954, and given to the Museum of Antiquities by the Rev. L.T. Johnson of The Manse, Ryton.

The Emma Pit, at the N end of this field, has been reclaimed and part of it is now a carpark. This field can be equated with Cocks' Site 4 A. Earlier accessioin nos. 1958 F25, 26. The O.S. listed these objects in error as NZ 16 SE 33, i.e. on the neighbouring map.

A flint axe was found in 1917 about 50 yards west of the cist burial (SMR 518-520), and in 1959 was noted by the O.S. as being in the possession of Mrs. Wheatley, Ash Tree Farm, Chopwell. Cocks made a cast of it, and this measured 92 mm x 38 mm x 22 mm. Was Miket's drawing of the cast, and is this now with the rest of the Cocks Collection in the Museum of Antiquities? The drawing suggests the axe was a roughout.

He gave its dimensions as 737 mm x 559 mm x 381 mm, and described it thus: "The stone bears one "cup and ring" with four radial ducts...There are also ten plain cups of circular form; one cup with a deep conical duct; and one large cup which appears to have been formed by uniting two circular cups. All shew the tool marks of manufacture".
