1804 wreck of English craft which stranded behind the North Pier at Sunderland, having already grounded while attempting to enter the harbour; a wooden sailing vessel. `Newcastle, March 10...On Monday night the THREE SISTERS, of Sunderland, G Walton, master, in coming for that harbour, struck upon the rocks on the south side, and lost her rudder; she afterwards drove behind the North Pier, where she now lies almost a wreck. This day, the wind blowing dead upon the coast, and the sea extremely rough, three light vessels came on shore, viz. the WALPOLE...PATRIOT...and JAMES & MARY of Stonehaven, the latter behind the North Pier, and the two former about a mile to the south. Crews saved.'

Laden with coal, she was a wooden sailing vessel. `Sunderland, 1st Feb....A strong gale at east, and a heavy sea, with snow showers...Feb. 3rd. One of the most tremendous storms ever witnessed here commenced yesterday; the sea is running a tremendous height. It is reported that several vessels, coal-laden have been driven on shore to the Northward and Southward of this port [Sunderland]. Their names I have not yet been able to ascertain, except the TWO BROTHERS of Scarbro', and BETSEY AND NELLY, of Shields. Crews saved.' {Lloyd's 1969 Lloyd's list 07-FEB-1823, No.5775}.
