SITEDESC
Shown on Ordnance Survey second edition. There were two Blue Bell Public Houses on Shields Road. The first closed in 1914. The second, on the corner of Union Road was rebuilt by James Deuchar around 1892. It was a two storey building with cellars, attics and turrets. While it was being built a temporary bar was set up in a shed in the yard. In 1935 a first floor lounge was added. In 1940 part of the ground floor was modified to create retail space. The pub closed in 1996. Converted into a cycle shop and gallery. In 2013 it is Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative.
