Part of the early culverting of the Burn after 1838 and in existence by 1858, though rebuilt subsequently. The visible remains comprise a brick arch of white Lily firebricks. Another section of white firebrick wall and sandstone rubble walling on the west bank of the burn appear to represent the remains of an engine shed shown on the 2nd-4th editions OS 1896-1940.

Description
Marked as a dam on the 1828 Enclosure map, but called a sluice on the 1st edition OS of 1858. Remains comprise of very large blocks of sandstone (Plate 86) with traces of watergate (Plate 87).
The retaining wall to the north of the sluice runs all the way along the east side of the burn bank to join that at Massey's Forge. The wall along this stretch has suffered considerably from subsidence from the bank above. To the southwest of the sluice, where the Burn meanders quite considerable, a large section of this wall has collapsed. Just to the north of the sluice the wall has been strengthened at numerous time first by the addition of iron retaining bars and later by concrete buttresses.

Description
A bank of three, slightly funnel-shaped, structures, possibly kilns, are visible in the south-east side of the Burn. There may be traces of vitrified linings which might suggest that these are coke ovens or roasting ovens, similar features being known from Maryport dating to the 1770s [David Cranstone pers com.].
The broken edges of the 'kilns' are just visible in the bank downstream of Massey's Forge (Plate 85). Associated deposits include detached pieces of vitrified lining, which project from the side of the Burn.

Description
A small horizontal arch type dam is shown on the 1st edition OS of 1858, some 40m downstream from the Waggonway Bridge (67). The map shows no trace of a millpond nor any associated mill features. Possibly this was a water management feature, associated with the Freehold Pit (71). It is not shown on subsequent editions of the OS. No visible remains.
