Description
First appears on the 3rd edition OS map (1914) which shows a weir and various adjacent structures to the southeast of the waggonway bridge. The weir is constructed of brickand concrete and runs diagionally across the Burn just downstream from the bridge (Plate 69). Just upstream of the weir are the remains of a red brick abutment (Plate 70) present on both sides of the Burn. A set of four iron girders (sawn off) can be seen protuding from the face of the red brick wall on the south bank. The 3rd and 4th edition OS maps show a structure spanning across the river at this point which may account for the location of the weir, however, the function of this building is unclear. The building appears to have undergone numerous extentions and modifications evident in the surrounding brickwork.

Description
Carrying the Blaydon Burn waggonway across the Burn. Built c.1840 when Joseph Cowen received wayleave for the waggonway running from the High Yard at Blaydon Burn hamlet to the Newcastle-Carlisle Railway.

The lower courses of the northwest face of the are almost certainly built on the foundation of the earlier 1840 bridge (Plate 68). The present bridge is constructed of randomly coursed sandstone including some larger square cut blocks (possibly from an earlier structure). The arch includes yellow firebrick as does the north side of the bridge which has been heavily remodelled. The south side of the structure is faced in shuttered concrete. Although heavily modified the lower courses of stonework on the culvert are of square cut rusticated sandstone blocks and may relate to the earlier waggonway bridge, elements of which can also be seen on the southeast face of the bridge just upstream of the dam.

Description
A considerable amount of iron slag was found within the vicinity of the mill. On the south side there was a level area with low revetment of slag (Plate 65), possibly the debris from a cementation chest, similar to that found at Derwentcote [David Cranstone pers. Com). However there are no record of steel making involving the cementation process in the Burn, and it is likely that this material has been brought in from outside the study area. Slag was also recorded to the southwest of the mill and large nodules were found within the mill interior (Plate 66). A little northeast of the remains of the Mill, a crucible (or saggar?) base is visible on the side of the Burn

Description
This carried the track from Nipper's Well to Path Head across the Blaydon Burn waggonway, and thus dates from c.1840. The abutment projecting from the east side of the valley survives, built of squared sandstone ashlar, rusticated faced with tooled margins. Abutted on the north and south by sections of rough sandstone rubble revetments.

This was a row of seven terraced houses for workers, facing the Ottovale works with gardens behind. The terrace was supplied with water from a reservoir in the valley below, which was pumped electrically to a 127,000 gallon cast-iron storage tank beside the works. The terrace appears in a photograph of c.1930 (GPL) but today there are no visible remains.
